Super Springs Modification

The dealer installed Firestone air bag springs, which worked well, but I was never liked relying on them for leveling since any number of things could make them loose air while cornering on a big trip.  I also was using 90 lbs of air in the bags to get the ride I wanted and even though the air bags are rated to 100 lbs, I didn’t like being that close to their limits.

So I bought the Super Springs from my truck.  Of course, the ride is much improved.  I can ride loaded without pressure in the airbags, but I still prefer 50 lbs of pressure for a stiffer ride (relative).  The installation was a breeze.

The closest thing to a clearance issue was between the Super Spring bracket and the wheel brake cylinder.  As you can see, there is more than enough gap to not have a worry.  The installation was easy, as were the instructions.  I would say if you can change your own oil, you can install these springs yourself.   If you have a shop install them, don’t let them charge you for more than an hour for the labor.
